Jungle Paradise: My Dream Boutique Resort

There is no shortage of luxury retreats in Luang Prabang where the beautiful local people are ready to pamper you and help you rest and rejuvenate during your Southeast Asian journey. After 10 days of craziness, running across Vietnam with my family, we couldn’t have been more ready for a wind down when we arrived in Laos.

We were booked in to stay at My Dream Boutique Resort, a beautifully modern and chic accommodation, that still proudly showed off that traditional Laos charm. From the moment we arrived at the reception everyone at My Dream Boutique Resort were so lovely and accommodating and went above and beyond to be kind and helpful.

Checking in to My Dream Boutique Resort

We arrived late at night, all hot and sweaty from the humidity and a long day of travelling. The staff quickly took our bags to our room and let us sit straight down to a late dinner, with the hotel restaurant offering a range of traditional Laos dishes. We were so hungry after an afternoon of airport and airline food, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious.

The list of amenities offered by My Dream Boutique Resort are almost endless and so generous. To make it easier for you to get around the town they offer complimentary bicycles to use during your stay, a free shuttle bus to the town centre, as well as free airport transfers and complimentary wifi across the resort. They also offer free complimentary buffet breakfast, with both Western and tradition Laos options. YUM!

The rooms at My Dream Boutique Resort were lovely and clean, with a huge super comfy bed and massive bathrooms. We had a lovely view over the jungle, with no other rooms or people insight from our balcony, making it feel very nice and private. They had great hot water pressure, which means after a few weeks of strange family sized Airbnbs we could finally take a good shower!

Free wifi is offered in all rooms at the resort and it works pretty well. Luang Prabang in general doesn’t have the strongest connection, so expect longer loading times if you’re trying to upload or download images or steam TV or movies on your devices. We found that the best times for a quick internet speed was either early in the morning or around the middle of the day, when most people were out of the hotel and exploring.

Getting to My Dream Boutique

My Dream Boutique Resort is in a great location, within a short walking distance of Luang Prabang’s old town centre. The quickest walk is via the Bamboo Bridge, which cuts around the corner, over the river and straight into the heart of Luang Prabang, where Sisvangvong and Sakkaline Roads meet.

The Bamboo Bridge is built by a local family from the village and costs just 50kip as a donation for their work. The bridge is only open during the dry season, as the river rises too much in the wet season, and is constructed and demolished each year, to make sure it’s always safe and sturdy.

If you’re travelling by bicycle or motorbike, or you’re just in the mood for a slightly longer walk, you can also take the Old Bridge, which is just wide enough for a single file stream of bikes to be flowing in each direction.

The Old Bridge takes you straight to the hill climb of Mount Phousi, past many of the food stalls, cafes and restaurants in Luang Prabang. In Luang Prabang everything is close by, so you don’t have to worry about a journey too long!
